Oat Power

A new day, a new bowl.

In the bowl: half a banana, a pear, oats, chia seeds, and a few dried cranberries.

Right after I took these photos, I went to put loads of cinnamon on my oats. Unfortunately, I grabbed the galangal instead, and went to town shaking into my bowl. It wasn’t until the strong, gingery smell reached my nose that I realized that it wasn’t cinnamon. At least it wasn’t garlic salt or something. I scraped off what I could and mixed the rest in. It actually wasn’t that bad.

How did I not notice the difference in color? Sigh. Next time I’ll read the label.

Today I tried spinning instead of running. I’m laying off the running because it has been really hurting my left knee (which I injured when I tripped on some ice last year). There are a couple of spin bikes at my gym that have screens where you can follow along with a spin instructor. It was a great workout (MUCH harder than I thought it would be), and my knee feels fine.

I had Punjabi Curried Kidney Beans in the slow cooker by 9:30 this morning, so the agenda today includes mostly reading cookbooks and hanging out with my man.

I love my (dirty) slow cooker.

    I need to try chia seeds in oats! I see it all the time and I’ve never bothered to buy them lol🙂
